Analyst, Energy Access Southern Africa

Do you have strong analytical and organisational skills and the dedication and innovation to grow with us at our International Secretariat in Vienna, Austria?

As Analyst, Energy Access Southern Africa you will contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of the Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa’s (BGFA, https://beyondthegrid.africa/) financing rounds in Zambia and Mozambique. BGFA is a market-based energy access programme based on the successful pilot implementation of this approach in Zambia (BGFZ, https://www.bgfz.org/), which has helped to bring clean energy services to around one million people since 2016. BGFZ’s contribution to the off-grid space has been acknowledged internationally: in 2019, the programme won the Ashden Award for Sustainable Finance and a UN Global Climate Action Award.

The position involves monitoring of implementation, risk profiles and business performance of Energy Service Providers supported by BGFA, documenting lessons learnt, research and analysis to support the delivery of country engagement strategies and market scoping and technical assistance in the areas of policy reforms, financial analysis, gender, etc.

If you have a related degree and relevant professional experience in project cycle management, and/or policy development and technical/economic/business analysis, this is the role for you. Experience in sub-Saharan Africa, renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and off-grid and agricultural energy solutions would all be a distinct advantage.

The role is located at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna, Austria. Due to its special legal status, applicants must have or be able to obtain a valid residency permit for Austria/EU, but do not require a work permit.

For this 40h/week full time position, REEEP offers a minimum monthly salary of EUR 2,400 (gross, paid 14 times per year, subject to Austrian social security contributions, currently free of income tax due to REEEP’s special status as a “Quasi-International Organisation”).
