We have to Listen!!
Ms. Gomez was my 8th grade Natural History teacher. She was a very energetic old lady trying to teach us the importance of animals, forests and trees around the world. She also put emphasis on how we can protect them. Of course, at that time we were more interested in impressing the classmate close to us than trying all of her good explanations.
Anyway, I never forgot one specific lesson about how dinosaurs despaired from planet Earth. She brought a big colored poster, and put it on the board. On it you could see this big animals looking for food and water in between fire rocks falling from the sky. The image was very devastating. However, no one at the class felt sad about it. I think because we didn’t miss a free T-Rex chasing us in the High School backyard. Well, we didn’t know that with the years Spielberg will scare us with a movie about that.
Finally, she ended the class by saying that no matter how bad was the situation, Mother Nature will always be reborn again and again. Remembering this, I started thinking that now with thousand of animal species in danger of extinction and the global warming, maybe we are facing the same scenario at another time.
In that case, I would love to go back in time to Ms. Gomez class, and ask her “Could you explain me in more details, how this reborn works??
Well, I'm also going to say hi to the blonde girl sitting next to me.
