"But we have always done it this way..."
What is the biggest single threat to Social Care currently? A changing demographic, increasingly complex cases, funding restrictions, austerity, lack of sufficiently qualified and experienced staff, the living wage? All significant factors in their own right. All incredibly challenging factors in the Social Care environment; but all open to a solution given creativity, ability and hard work. No for me the biggest single threat to Social Care currently is "but we have always done it this way....."

8 年I see transformational leadership as a gap in this sector. Change is a complex subject when it comes to changing cultures. A visionary leader will always inspire their staff to think different to deliver services. Now we need to check how many leaders do we have within ASC at every level of management???? If your answer is a yes, then you can turn all your threats into opportunities.
Institutional inertia isn't the sole preserve of Social Care, although there's no doubt that the situation you rightly describe should lead to creative solutions being adopted more readily. The sector isn't known for its risk-taking abilities, though, often with good reason & the best intentions.
