Washington, DC. — El Planeta Media publications, El Tiempo Latino and El Planeta continue on their mission to provide content to the Latino community that improves decision-making and ignites curiosity, while also informing on top issues and amplifying the Latino culture. Both publications deliver the best and most relevant information for this underserved demographic covering national, regional, local, political, economic, health and lifestyle topics on our print, audio and digital platforms reaching more than 7 million Latinos monthly nationwide.
As a result of their commitment to serve millions of Spanish speakers, El Tiempo Latino and El Planeta were awarded multiple José Martí Awards presented by the National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP). Amongst the coveted awards won in 2022, El Tiempo Latino took home the “Gold Award” for Outstanding Special Section, the? “Gold Award” for “Outstanding Community Service Article”, and the “Gold Award” for “Multiple articles series (Nuestras Enfermeras).”?
El Planeta was awarded the “Gold Award” for Outstanding ePublication, the “Gold Award” for “Outstanding Less than Weekly Publication”, and the “Gold Award” for “Outstanding Print Publication”. In addition, El Planeta won a “Gold Award” for “Outstanding Newspaper Design” for a special health supplement that brought important COVID-19 information to the Massachusetts Hispanic community.
A fourth “Gold Award” earned by El Planeta was in the category for,? “Outstanding Success Story” written by journalist Ana Eira with a feature about Raquel Coronel, the first Latina to lead the prestigious newspaper, The Harvard Crimson.
Elevating and celebrating the accomplishments of US Latinos is part of El Planeta Media’s DNA. These Awards reinforce the commitment and positive impact that El Tiempo Latino and El Planeta have had with the Hispanic community since 1991 and 2004 respectively as the largest print and online minority-owned Spanish publisher bringing reliable and relevant information to Latinos.

The National Association of Hispanic Publications (NAHP) presented the awards during their 40th-anniversary gala and national conference in Denver, Colorado.? The event convened industry, business, and government leaders from around the United States and Mexico, which provided NAHP members with the opportunity to participate in workshops that explored the best practices, research findings, advertising innovations, online strategies, business development, and other ways to integrate strategies for social media. A total of 140 media companies operate 472 media outlets, making it one of the most diverse media organizations in the country.
Amidst widespread public distrust of institutions, El Planeta Boston and El Tiempo Latino remain committed to providing valuable and timely information to Spanish speakers in the United States.
