We are going to Mars

We are going to Mars

In 1948, Looney Tunes animator Chuck Jones had the childlike imagination to dream up Marvin the Martian and introduce him to the world.

I just love the imagination to see so differently than others to be able to visualize and create a brand new species, albeit helmeted and wearing a skirt, sneakers, and a brush on its head!

Eighty years later, Space X CEO Elon Musk is highly confident that they will be landing humans on Mars within the next six years. Imagine the boldness of thought and courage it takes to cast such a vision. Heck, it stresses me out to think about driving 20 hours to take our daughter Ella back to Colorado for college in 6 weeks. Mars?? Musk told his team, "We ARE going to Mars. There will be obstacles and problems, and we will solve those one at a time". We ARE going to Mars... His childlike imagination created a boldness to see what others could not. Like Christopher Columbus sailing to the new world. A beginner's mindset, not burdened by the jaded thinking of others, past failures or paralyzed in doubt or what hasn't been done yet.

The Bible talks about revealing truth to those people who are not too "wise and clever" but childlike:

Sometimes to move forward in life, we have to "etch-a-sketch" our minds and clear it from what we thought was true so that we can imagine and create a new truth. I think that's what Jesus was talking about. He wanted people to believe in a new truth and join him in creating it. It has the power to change people's lives.

When we embarked on our Churchill Next initiative, we committed to a beginner's mindset's core value. We commit to ignoring what we believe to be true today to create a truth about tomorrow. We are creating a process to close a loan in one day. I know that's hard to imagine right now, but I've seen it happen. I know it's true. The question isn't can it be done, only how long until it's the standard experience.

Changing our thinking and clearing the doubts derived from what we think is true today can create a tomorrow that our competition can't see.

That's what 2021 is about for Churchill Mortgage. We are going to Mars, and we want you to come with us. Clear your mind of what you think is true, as that is the first step in the journey.
