We all want things to go back to normal quickly. But what if most of us have probably not yet realized that certain things won’t go back to normal. I reckon some things never will. Coronavirus is going to change a few things in this world forever. A few are listed below.
De-militarization of patriotism: People would be thankful for the service of our new armed forces such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, police, teachers, caregivers, store clerks, utility workers and small-business owners.
More online Activities: Going forward Instead of asking, “Is there a reason to do this online?” we’ll be asking, “Is there any good reason to do this in person?”. New ways of online religious worship practices will emerge to keep faith alive. Probably electronic voting will go mainstream all over the world.
The uprise of the Virtual world: Many companies were now forced to exercise work from home option. WFH will become the new norm. Going forward, public meetings, schools, colleges, hospitals, government offices will go virtual. Stronger domestic supply chains will emerge. There will be less communal dining and more cooking. New practices like Skype dinner or hangout lunch with friends and families will emerge.
Relationships: Virus ?? will keep us contained in our homes for months reorienting our relationship to government, to the outside world, even to each other. Touch will become taboo. Being with other people and breathing the air in an enclosed space will be reduced. The comfort of being in the presence of others will be replaced by a greater comfort with absence, especially with those we don’t know intimately.
