We Finally "Cut The Cable!"

If you live here in the U.S., you are aware of the phrase: "Cutting the cable." Hundreds of thousands of people have gotten fed up with the high prices that cable television companies?are charging. They have switched to various internet television platforms.

??In our case, our bill for cable television, internet, and home security had escalated to $405.00 US per month. Enough?was enough!! We contacted our technical person, Erik Noyes. (He is the best! If you are around here and need computer or related work, he is your "go-to" man!). Erik recommended AT and T fiber-optic high-speed internet. He recommended YouTube Television as the platform for delivering television channels.

??We got AT and T internet installed. It has exceeded all our expectations! It is super-fast and cost-competitive. We have four televisions in the house. The TV in the living room and in the guest bedroom are state of the art and very internet compatible.

The television in the master bedroom is a Sony that we bought around 2010. It has virtually no internet capabilities. It had to be replaced. I chose a 40" LG television?with?Amazon Fire. It arrived. I took it outside?the box.?It is ultra-lightweight?and slim. I hauled the heavy Sony television off the TV stand. I plugged the?new television in. I turned it on. It found the internet immediately and automatically. The TV is equipped with Artificial Intelligence in the form of Alexa. I started talking to Alexa. The setup went smoothly and fast. I have my favorite channels. This technological wonder cost $277 US.

??We had to dispose of the Sony television that had been around our house for 13 years. It was so heavy that?both Elena and I had to carry it down the stairs and put it in the Tesla. I drove to Good Will?in Burlingame?and donated it. I reflected on the quantum leap in television technology over the last 13 years. I also was sad to see something that had been part of our lives for 13 years gone.

??Another LG television like this one but only 23" is on its way. I will have to repeat the same process in the study. A 19-year-old TV that was delivered on the day in November 2004 when Bush II was reelected president will also go to Good Will.
