“If we are faking and lying in our prayer, merely seeking to fool God into doing something for us and nothing more, what will God make of us and our communication?”
If we are faking and lying in our prayer, merely seeking to fool God into doing something for us and nothing more, what will God make of us and our communication? Will he see through us and our prayer, judge us harshly and see our lying and fakery, turn his back on us and cast us off in judgment and even in condemnation? God is love and even in our lying and fakery in our prayer understands our human failings and does not cease to love and forgive us. He knows who we truly are and sees through our lies and is still merciful and loving. He is a parent and not a judge. He knows us like an x-ray, knows who we are and is not fooled. Despite his omniscience, he chooses the path of forgiveness and not the path of judgment. He knows all of us all too well and, knowing us, chooses the path of the cross and not the path of the devil: ego, arrogance, self-love, self-interest, and selfishness. He is love and that love is the beginning and the end, the be all end all, which lying and fakery will and cannot defeat.
