We are extremely proud that we could see the artworks of the Hungarian designers on the international runways
Milan is recognized as one of the most important fashion capitals of the “Big Four” such as New York, Paris and London. Milano Fashion Week attracted a large number of physical shows that brought vibrance to its city once more. This year, 7 excellent Hungarian brands had the opportunity to show themselves and begin to captivate the international market.
The Milano Fashion Week is not just one of the most famous national fashion events but it is also one of the most grandiose.
It lasted between the 22nd and the 28th of February in the Italian fashion capital. The event hosts thousands of visitors including national distributors and wholesalers, so it is a huge opportunity for the emerging creators. I’m very pleased that our mentoring program with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana gave the possibility to its participants - ABODI, CUKOVY, Elysian, KATA SZEGEDI, NINI, THEFOUR and Zsigmond - to present their Fall-Winter 2022/23 Collections.
The Hungarian brands appeared at different places so they could show the Hungarian fashion in multiple ways.
I’m glad to tell, that this was the 7th occasion when the Hungarian Fashion and Design Agency was able to facilitate the appearance of domestic brands.
In addition, Hungarian brands were able to gain significant sales opportunities during Milano Fashion Week, as many international buyers visited both the Budapest Select Collective Fashion Show and the Fashion HUB as well. Among others, the Italian MDM7, Japan Marubeni, was represented, and we initiated several negotiations on the spot to build and expand our global network. We also started reaching out to potential new mentors, angel investors and trade fair representatives in order to help Hungarian designers to enter, and gain advantage in foreign markets.
Four Hungarian designers, ABODI, THEFOUR, Elysian and KATA SZEGEDI showcased their collections as part of the Budapest Select Collective fashion show, each of them will present 10-12 exclusive compositions of their Autumn/Winter collections of 2022/23. All the final outfits with accessories for this special event will be prepared with the help of the stylist Paolo Turina. The auditorium was full of famous professionals like Sara Sozzani Miano, leader of the Vogue Talents, Carlo Capasa, President of CNMI or Suzy Menkes, journalist and fashion critic.
In one of our conversations Carlo Capasa once told me that the development of the Hungarian designers is clearly visible and, in my opinion, they have gone even further since that.
The works of the Hungarian designers were granted great success by the industry. From the international press - the Vogue Italia, the Elle Italia, the WWD, the Grazia, the Diva, - some of the representatives attended and noticed the Hungarian fashion industry and its talents and inquired about our success in Milan in the form of interviews.
Besides the shows, seven Hungarian designers – ABODI, CUKOVY, Elysian, KATA SZEGEDI, NINI, THEFOUR, ZSIGMOND – present their pieces at the Fashion Hub, located at ADI Design Museum.
The Hungarian talents prove their remarkable abilities in every way. They filled up the Fashion HUB exhibition place with their original pieces and CUKOVY, who won the Buyers Award last year, held a presentation.
I belive the long road behind CUKOVY is a very good example of what reward can be expected in the life of a brand if they have the opportunity to present themselves in Milan from season to season.
To culminate this, CUKOVY’s latest collection, which were introduced in a stand-alone presentation at this year’s event, had dazzled audiences with replaceable elements, removable accessories and a special design. Press representatives from mediums, such as Pambianco, Elle and WWD were also among those who were broadcasting the unique presentation of the brand.
