Every Friday, we will answer an interesting question from the world of timing belts, conveyor belts and round belts. You can expect valuable tips to help you make your projects more efficient and get the best out of them!
Today's question is one that we get asked very often:?
PU or PVC - How do I know which base material to choose for my belt? ??
Which base material is the better choice in your case depends on the intended use and the individual environmental conditions.?
PU, for example, offers high abrasion resistance, reliable power transmission, is also suitable for smaller bending radii, is resistant to many oils, greases, chemicals, lubricants and solvents, but has limited UV and temperature resistance.
PVC is cheaper, flame-retardant, has a higher temperature resistance and better resistance to UV radiation and weathering, is more resistant to hydrolysis, but offers lower abrasion resistance and flexural strength.
If you are not yet sure which material is the better choice for your application, you are of course welcome to contact us.
Check back next week - then it's all about colors ??... but nothing more will be revealed yet ??
