We don’t need no… education.

My mentor keeps telling me. Shankar, we should do Learning, Doing & Teaching at the same time. And, that is the Golden Triangle of Success.

I kept on thinking about it. And I started analyzing how our society is always, always creating a gap between

Learning

&

Doing

I studied Mechanical Engineering for 4 long years. But I never did anything related to Mechanical Engineering in those 4 years. So, clearly, there was a divide between Learning & Doing.

Some of the Mechanical Engineers who are reading this are saying, but Shankar, we had practicals no,

Is that not doing?

NO

Doing is Real Doing not doing for the sake of doing.

Go to school to become a doctor, you learn to doctor, but don't do doctoring.

Go to school to study MBA, you learn Business, but don't do business.

Forget doing any Business, you don't learn the basics required for a job/business.

Like,

1. Writing an email
2. Cold Calling
3. Excel Sheet
4. Reporting
5. etc..etc..

And the irony is when I started working, learning was considered a distraction. So learning to improve what you are doing is considered a distraction and only learning and not doing is considered an education.

I recently visited Raja Rajeswari College of Engineering for the Campus Interviews.

Had a chance to meet up with the Dean and we were discussing the Huge Gap between Academics and Industry.

After being in the e-Recruitment Industry for 14 years, I know that there are more jobs out there waiting for the right candidates. Educated can not clear the Interviews. Skilled people will. But there is a lack of Skilled workforce and there are plenty of educated people.

How can we club Learning & Doing?

Can we create a better society if we are able to do that?

Should working professionals be allowed to Learn and Upgrade?

Should College students be more exposed to real work Environment?
