We don't need no education

“We need to educate people on pensions”. Really?

We do not need to make people become experts on financial matters. Instead, we need to help people be consumers of expertise. 

This makes a big assumption. The assumption is that you will find an expert to help you. Let’s face it, most people don’t and certainly not enough people look.

At the moment, most people simply don’t think about retirement until it happens. Sometimes, retirement happens unexpectedly because of a life event such as illness, redundancy or needing to care for a family member. Even the people who do start thinking about retirement, they are typically confused and do not know where to start. Life after work is a broad and complicated subject. Retirement and working out how to get the most out of your pension is not a subject that you should engage with amateurs.
