We Are Donating $100 Per Sale towards the BUSHFIRES??for the month of January!
Being based in Brisbane city, we have been lucky enough to not be directly affected by these catastrophic fires all over Australia. Occasionally we have been exposed to some smoke by nearby fires and have been profusely sending prayers, donations and high hopes for the folks that have been heavily affected, however, I have to say, this experience for us has been rather surreal!
On our Christmas break we have visited NSW and in particular, some of the areas that were affected by the recent fires. Our hearts break with the reality of what we were hit with in witnessing the huge expanse of the affected areas. All of the people and animals that have lost their homes or even worse, their loved ones.
While these fires are different due to their expansiveness and intensity as a result of the changing climate, fire has been a long part of Australian history in shaping our landscape.
One aspect that gave me a little hope in amongst all of this despair was the witness of a previously burnt forest in a national park that had started to regenerate.
It was beautiful to see the successional species sprouting and recolonising the land, preparing the forest for rejuvenation and regrowth
This cycle of fresh new growth ??will provide many new food sources for the animals and lead to the re-establishment of the eco-system.
Many of the trees have an abundance of bright green, fresh shoots all over the trunks and the kangaroo's, emu's, lizards and birdlife seemed to be quite at home in their new environment.

Of course, there are still challenges ahead, fires that are still burning and areas that have experienced even more devastation than this, however, I feel it's important to share pieces of positivity that can instill hope along the way.
We are sending our love, hope, and prayers for all of you being affected at this time. May growth and renewal start to sprout for you soon too.
