Our purpose

1app’s ultimate mission is to be a bridge of endpoints that connects people and services without having to use more than one application. We aim to give everyone access to whichever financial service (for both personal and business use) they need at the cheapest prices through an aggregator system.

So far, 2022 has been a remarkable year for us at 1app!

Looking at where we started and how much we’ve grown over the years, we experienced significant positive changes in our operations in the first half of 2022. As recorded, we ended 2019 with just 6920 registered users. This number went up to 35028 and 55869 unique registrations in 2020 and 2021 respectively. All these, I must mention, are, mostly, organic registrations got mainly from referrals. In the first half of 2022, we had almost 29000 new registrations.

We also expanded our team, both locally and internationally. We successfully registered in the US and Ghana. We also got operation licences in both countries, enabling us to provide our services outside the Nigerian border. Our biggest highlight will be the first-level PCI DSS certification we got; this enables us to provide our services with the highest level of security & regulatory oversight.

We also rebranded our products and added new products. On product delivery, we focused mainly on increasing reliability and delivery rate, reducing failed transactions rate and getting even cheaper products to our users. While we ended 2021 with a transaction volume of more than $816000, the first half of 2022 has seen more than $724000 transaction volume. This spike in transaction volume helped us cross our $2 million total volume plan earlier than speculated.

Our products and services!

After our product development in July 2019, the provided services include airtime, mobile data and MiFi data subscription purchase. By January 2020, we added electricity and cable TV purchase to the mix. Between April and June, we added UME, WAEC, and NECO e-card PINs. November 2020 came with investment plans, 1app merchants and sending funds options. We started providing loans in February 2021; then added events registration and payment, crowdfunding and campaigns in April 2021.

In December 2021, we expanded the scope of 1app to provide business services to users - 1app Business. We developed a payment gateway aggregator that provides businesses with a secure and reliable way to accept payments from customers. In the same month, 1app got its first pre-seed funding from Tekedia Institute.

2022 saw so many updates and revamping, both for 1app and 1app Business. We introduced instant Corporate account numbers in February, payment scheduling in March, and kicked off our financial inclusion plan in April. In April, we added more Business Add-on services to 1app Business - these services include CAC registration for businesses, business plans and proposal designs and business advisory services.?

The 2022 second-half plan at 1app is to get more efficient and provide even more services!

While 1app started as a small project in 2019, we started with a laid-out plan of our services and future expansion. For the second half of 2022, we would be introducing several new services. Our “banking-the-unbanked” plan will start in full swing. We started tests for our card services in June; the second half of 2022 will witness the launch of 1app cards to all our users. Since we’re now registered in the US and Ghana, we are also working on providing services in both countries and the UK. We will be providing funds transfers from one currency to the other on 1app. As usual, we will continue to make our services more user-friendly, more efficient, and focus on providing cheaper services to our users.?
