Are we at a 'dead-stop' ?

Yes and no...

It goes without saying that many industries across the country and the world are suffering right now, and some have regrettably been at a ‘dead stop’ for quite some time.

At Risbridger, we have strived to work through the pandemic lockdowns, as well as through the economic and commercial downturns of the last 12 months.

By working safely and socially distanced, we have continued to operate.

Although we have resisted the ‘dead-stop’ in one sense, we have fully embraced it in another. Specifically, I refer to our Dead Stop Overfill Prevention Valve, which has no leak rate - unlike all other mechanical valves used in the industry. The Dead Stop valve closes completely once activated, unlike all other current mechanical overfill prevention valves. They all have some kind of leak rate, and even a small one can end in disaster if filling continues.

Take, for instance, the set-up of day tanks. These are fed from bulk tanks, and once the day tank is full (or very nearly full) they need to have the feed stopped totally. Day tanks tend to be small and any kind of ‘drip feeding’ from the bulk storage will eventually lead to over-filling it. As these tanks are often in basements or at the top of buildings, this can have huge knock-on effects and lead to expensive clean-up operations.

At Risbridger we have decades of experience in solving problematic day-tank installations leading to serious overfills. I recall one example in a government office where a vital generator's day-tank overfilled, resulting in a particularly messy diesel-filled basement. Other examples have been in flood prone areas, where generators are paramount in keeping the utilities running in times of high water-table events.

With our new Dead Stop design valves, we will succeed in helping these facilities to stay operational at all times. Later in 2021 we will be launching this new product, which is currently in field testing.

Thank you for watching this space!
