Our Data Science Team had the pleasure to represent our interdisciplinary Master’s degree programme @ Hochschule Luzern – Applied Information and Data Science and give personal insights into our student’s journey: from first contact to application, to enrollment and finally graduation and celebration. Founder, Head of Programme and Data Strategist Professor Dr. Andreas Brandenberg and Master’s student Remo K?lin were on site to answer all questions and give personal advice on how to successfully become a Data Science student. Furthermore, the visitors had the opportunity to network, listen to inspiring expert talks and attend presentations.

“Finding practical answers to the big questions of our century”

Professor Dr. Andreas Brandenberg underlined that studying our multidisciplinary Master’s programme is a matter of pragmatic and real-life-based solutions. As the demand for talented data experts is growing bigger and bigger, the ability to recognize relationships in large data sets is thus becoming more and more important. “Our main goal is to provide not only theoretical knowledge, but prepare our students to find practical and useful answers to the big questions of our century. By doing that, we thrive for making life better and easier for everyone. This strategy is unique and we are proud of that.”

“You have to lean in and give everything to succeed. There is no half-things”

One who knows best how becoming and being a Data Scientist feels like, is doubtlessly Remo K?lin. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from HSLU Hochschule Luzern and now is in his third Master semester. Studying Applied Information and Data Science is a great add-on to his skills, he says. “I am interested in Artificial Intelligence, because it facilitates marketing processes, such as Customer Clustering, Recommender Systems, Marketing Automation.”

He can already apply his learnings into his daily work what is very useful by getting things further. His advice for future Data Scientists is: “You have to lean in and give everything to succeed. There is no half-things.”
