Have you heard of ChatGPT? Chances are you have ???
From journalists to scientists to even your Aunt Evelyn, it seems EVERYONE has been talking about this spectacular, superpowered chatbot recently!?
Touted by some as the ultimate search engine to be the death of Google or simply as an impressive artificial intelligent language processing system by others, its name has essentially gone viral.?
I was curious if it could tell me about itself and so I asked it… “What are people saying about ChatGPT?”
To which it promptly shared…
“As an AI language model, I do not have access to specific social media platforms or customer reviews. However, ChatGPT is a popular chatbot that provides users with answers to their questions on various topics, including health, technology, lifestyle, and entertainment. It has been praised for its accuracy, engagement, and helpfulness. Users often mention that ChatGPT is easy to use and provides quick responses. Some have also suggested that the chatbot could be improved by offering more personalized responses and tailoring suggestions to individual preferences.”
An eerily self-aware and intelligent response, it also gives some insight into what all the hype is surrounding it.?
With new AI automation developing rapidly, many are beginning to wonder…
~ Will AI and ChatGPT replace me at my job?
~ Does my work still matter or have value?
~ How do I maintain a connection through remote teams and virtual meetings?
~ Can authenticity be captured through technology?
We know technology can make our lives easier and expedite tasks but new advancements can also create distress, disconnect, and distrust in the work environment if we aren’t careful.?
With the uncertainty and unease that these advancements bring to the table for many in the workforce, businesses need to become even more intentionally people-centered and double down on their peer-to-peer connections to assure their teams that they are still their most valuable asset.
As humans, we crave authenticity and a sense of belonging but research shows today’s technology may be harmful to building lasting interpersonal relationships.?
Yet, technology in the workplace has boomed in recent years and the demand to utilize it has grown exponentially.?
In fact, 94% of the world's workforce will need to be upskilled or reskilled by 2030 as advancements continue to evolve in the ever-changing landscape of business today.
With shocking new developments like ChatGPT and other AI platforms that seemingly automate thought, the line between man and machine begins to blur which can leave us feeling disjointed and even dispensable.
But it begs the question… how do we marry new automated technologies like ChatGPT and our workplace without removing the human element?

Connection in the workplace…

?? Improved retention
While so many companies turned their focus to tech during the pandemic to find a way to connect with the world outside, they’ve seemingly forgotten the most important piece of that connection… the people.
36% of employees say they feel disconnected and 34% feel isolated.
Technology in the workplace has increased productivity and efficiency at a rapid pace while offering employees the flexibility to work remotely but there’s been a clear downside to its usage.?
With hybrid workers, virtual meetings, emails, texts, and now automation of the written word, creating authentic, human connections has never been more challenging to establish in the workplace.
Yet, it’s clear it’s never been more important!?
In this age of technological advancements, leaders need to stay engaged with their employees to intentionally create interpersonal relationships that foster collaboration, enhance teamwork and build trust within their organizations or they run the risk of losing them.?
Imagine this scenario…
The top leadership roles in a company leave their positions and everyone else is left scrambling to wonder what that means for them personally. The uncertainty leads to fear and the fear leads to disconnect.?
Do they have job security??Is there room for advancement into those roles?
A lack of communication from their leadership has led to a breakdown in trust and frustration builds when the company hires externally to replace them. More Senior Leaders end up leaving due to feeling overlooked and undervalued.
Other employees feel ghosted and if the new leadership does not bridge the gap to share information and connect, the frustration festers and grows.
It’s not hard to picture, is it?
In this digital world, opportunities to communicate with others can be initiated in an instant but they’re only as effective as the human holding the technology.?
