We Come-N-Peace!

As a black man born and raised in Chicago, I have experienced more than my fair share of racism. Having moved to Arizona, years later to my surprise the racism is next level. At times it seems reminiscent of the 60’s.

Like many who look like me I too am fed up with what I’m see happening to us day in and day out. There’s not a day that goes by without me asking myself what kind of world do we live in, where Black people are routinely hunted and murdered by people with badges and some without who celebrate after their prize kills? This is beyond systemic racial discrimination.

Its murder plain and simple.

I’ve often wondered what kind of world do we live in where white people think the world revolves around them and only, they have the right to say who lives in it?

When does it end?

When every black man, woman and child is no more?

What does it say about a race of people that’s willing to slaughter 47.8 million people because the color of their skin?

The big question is should the dogmatists achieve their goal of wiping out the black race, who by the way is responsible for the white race existence, thew mass slaughtering will America finally become great?

Ancient history.

It was not so long ago when settlers, most of whom had been barred from inheriting property in Europe, arrived on American shores hungry for Indian land - and the abundant natural resources that came with it.

Peaceful natives who welcomed settlers were just too different: Their skin was dark. Their languages were foreign. And their world views and spiritual beliefs were beyond most white men’s comprehension. So, they routinely hunted and murdered Indians, stole their land and called it America.

This is so telling of how white America view people who are not like them, like we don't exist. And when we do exist, we exist as a threat because we can read, write, own property and vote.

It’s ironic we weren’t viewed as threats when we were picking cotton and making slave owners rich in the process?

Audacious I say.

Things have gotten so bad that ordinary whites are attacking blacks who are minding their own business like it’s a game. And the thing that gets me is most times when we fight back, defend ourselves were arrested and jailed for refusing to let white people beat on us. But their quick to cry wolf when they lose their jobs due to social media streams showing their true colors.

When I was bullied in school my grandmother taught me to pick up the first thing I saw and knock that bully over the head. It’s a funny thing how racist people think twice about their racist acts when they know you’ll fight back. Till this day I am a firm believer in an eye for and eye and I have no problem with letting it be known.

When I experience racism, I quickly point out a few things to the would be racist.

I let them know you can talk and scream all you want. That’s your right.

I then let them know that if they put a hand on me, they will not see tomorrow.

After that exchange having left them with something to kink about, I go on about my business.

No More.

My thinking is any human that’s OK with bringing harm or death to another person because the color of their skin is nothing more than a weak spinless sole. One who shows ignoble fear in the face of danger or pain. A coward is just that. A coward. Prone to or characterized by overbearing mistreatment and domination of others. A bully is just that. A bully.

If you’re a black man or woman and you don’t stand up for yourself how can you expect respect? Your life must mean something to you. Because it’s obvious your life doesn’t mean a thing to others who have shown they hate you enough to kill you for nothing more than being born black.

Can peaceful protest bring about change?

I’m not sure.

All I know is black people are fed up with what we see happening. And no matter how many times we exercise our First Amendment rights to free speech through peaceful protest, to bring up issues that are real for some and is being ignored by others. Nothing seems to change except the number of murdered unarmed black people just keeps rising. But. We Come-N-Peace.
