“Acceptance looks like a passive state, but in reality it brings something entirely new into this world. That peace, a subtle energy vibration, is consciousness.” – Eckhart Tolle ~ German author and philosopher
To be, or not to be, is not the only question. For acting nobly has nothing to do with fortune. We are awake only when we realize we are not the only one who is. Our cognition belies itself dissonantly when it separates us from those who make us who we are.
When we experience things in the world, our consciousness transcends itself as there is a tacit agreement between other conscious beings of a collective objectivity. In this, we are not only of the world, we are in the world, as each one of us is a part of the experience as it is happening right now.
But as the question entails, it could all be gone in an instant. The moment we are in will be all some have left, and yet, that doesn’t mean something cannot be left behind. The best objective is the collective good of each individual who make up the community.
This, however, is not internal. An outward gaze is what allows us to see responsively. It is our inward selfishness that holds us back into thinking we have only two options. But we don’t. We have been given life when others have not. We have an opportunity others will never have.
Certainty will always be fleeting, things are meant to come and go. How conscious we are of today will forever be tied to how vigilant we are for those around us. We must be mindful so as to not get caught up in only our own.
At the end of it all, we know where we’ll be. But what we know not yet, is how our being helps others exist in a world where so few never can.
