Are We Chasing Algorithms or Real Clients?
Ever wonder why some people hustle like their life depends on it, while others just want to help? Here’s the difference between Type A and Type B – and why most coaches aren’t trying to ‘crush it’ but actually serve.
I recently did a live space with my good friend Simon Pilon. Now, Simon’s another coach in a different niche, but we both have the same intentions—helping people. He talks openly about serving, and that really struck a chord with me. We’re in tune, in harmony, over this. What a guy. You should definitely check out his newsletter—it's one of the best out there. (Link at the bottom, don’t miss it!)
Let me explain:
The space we did was called “Are We All Just Chasing Algorithms Instead of Clients?” And I couldn’t agree more with Simon. There’s a common misconception that we unpacked during the session. My inbox is flooded daily with marketers promising me 10k months, 30 leads a day, and all sorts of "surefire" ways to scale. But here’s the truth: That’s not why I’m here, and it’s not why Simon is either.
If I were a betting man—and I'm not, but just for the sake of it—I'd wager the majority of coaches out there feel the same way. We're not here to “make a quick buck” or play the numbers game. We’re here for something more meaningful.
Now, let me break it down for you.
You’ve probably heard people talk about Type A and Type B personalities. So here’s the deal:

Here’s the kicker: I get approached by Type A hustlers daily—those marketers who live for the grind, constantly talking about "scaling" and "crushing it" and "living their best life." Cool, but honestly, I’m not here to pressure anyone into buying some $5k course about hustling harder. That’s not my vibe, and it’s not Simon’s either.
So, let’s keep it real. Most coaches are Type B. We’re in this for the love of it. We’re here to help. To serve. We’re not here to “crush” anything. We’re here to build, support, and grow. And that’s what’s going to last.
This also leads nicely into "What’s the point?" I openly admitted that in 2023, I failed. But in 2024, I succeeded. So, what changed?
I changed my approach. I shifted my money targets. I ditched the whole “Canva Mountain” strategy and stopped trying to talk like everyone else. I just became more comfortable speaking like me. The result? Well, I’ll just say this: Authenticity + Passion → Authority = Success (Trust, Value).
Everyone’s got their own thoughts and beliefs—and you’re welcome to them. But if you want to succeed in this business, don’t post because you have to. Post because you want to. Post because you want to help people, or as Simon so perfectly puts it: serve.
