We are the Chaos

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.” – Joseph Campbell ~ American writer and comparative mythologist
The day is ours so long as we realize it’s all we have. Once more into the fray we step into and out of ourselves as we are the chaos when order has lost its way.
The battle is not waged against one another, it’s how we see ourselves. We hold onto who we were because we’re afraid of what we might become. It is in letting go of who we want to be that allows us to grasp ahold of who we really are. Only then can we provide our greatest value.
It would be much easier if life were written down and only executed upon as scripted. But the greatest of joys comes in unknowing the outcome, good or bad. There could never be joy in Mudville if they already knew mighty Casey would strike out.
It may seem fun to call your shot but we need to hope for something larger than the predictable. Dreams are important, but glory never came to those who would not step outside them. When something wicked comes our way, we need to let it shape us rather than allowing it to define our day.
Disorder might then be our only getaway because it means we’re set free. Told to conform, we are the chaos that creates the natural, unplanned moments that make life irresistible.

6 年Great piece. The ability to "disrupt" unacceptable mores, is needed for all who want a great life. I watch with astonishment, as people squabble over irrelevant perceived differences, instead of embracing the wealth of humanity, as most of the wealthiest, most successful and happiest among us do. Great insights Clayton. Thanks for sharing!
