We celebrate Visual Artist—Yvonne Muinde
This week, we celebrate Yvonne Muinde , (Nairobi, Kenya) as our WCW, who is a visual artist who works primarily with paint on canvas. She was born and raised in Kenya, and has worked in the VFX film industry since 2003.
She studied art and design in the United States, from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco. Her design and artistic knowledge has contributed to the visuals of many award-winning films and even landed her a V.E.S. (Visual Effects Society award), award for her matte painting work for the film Avatar.
Her traditional art is the foundation that she stands firmly on when matte painting, and the combination of both can be seen in over 25 feature films. To say the least, she is considered to be amongst the crème de la crème in the industry, as an award wining digital matte painter.
One of Yvonne's proudest moments was when she was awarded the mural commission for the Blair Caldwell African American Museum and Library in the city of Denver.
Her pieces have been collected by several collectors and two of her sold pieces are in a group collection ‘The Chemistry of Colour’ which is housed at the Philadelphia Fine Art Gallery.
