We Can't Thank You Enough
I’m speechless.
What an incredible last four months.
On March 7, 2020, we wrapped our gala. Then the pandemic struck.
We had to let go of staff, we could not offer critical services to our families. We were heartbroken and confused, much like most of the world.
It became clear that we needed to evolve and understand digital education, so we could continue to offer services to our families – to be physically distant but socially connected.
To build new, digital infrastructures to support virtual programs, we needed funding, which was only possible through events-based fundraisers like the Walk-A-Thon –which at this point was in danger of not happening.
But, with the help of some very passionate collaborators and supporters, we decided to take a massive risk and host our first-ever virtual event.
Our community never lets us down. They are the spine of who we are. They define our relentless pursuit to build a better world.
We enlisted world class leaders in athletics, business, and the arts. They set the pace, they inspired and motivated us to be better, be optimal, and support a great cause. I want to personally thank these incredible individuals who guided us through such tough times with courage and kindness:
Roy Ratnavel, Executive Vice President of CI Financial
Muraly Srinarayanathas, CEO, Computek College of Business, Healthcare & Technology
KJ & Kayan Kanesalingam, Monakko Developments
Kelsey Mitchell, Canadian Olympian Track Cyclist
Carmine Filice, Founder and Director Performance Lab
Vahini Franklin, Founder Blue Blossoms
Clement Golliet, Fitness Director
Nishan Duraiappah, Chief of Police, Peel Region
Anoshinie, Dance & Choreographer
Without our Walk-A-Thon Captains, and all of you, we wouldn’t be able to continue supporting stories like Niro’s and Taniya’s.
You can still support our Walk-A-Thon goal by donating here: https://saaac.kindful.com/
I believe that these exceptional times call for exceptional people. In the last few months, we saw how exceptional creativity, courage and generosity enabled us to continue our organization’s mission and withstand a global crisis.
I truly mean it when I say, a thank you is not enough for all that you have done for us.
Please take care and be safe.
