We Can Save Us

We can save us.

We’ve all been shell shocked over the last few, at this point, several weeks. We have been told that what we are experiencing is grief. Grief for the way our lives used to be normal.

At the same time with all this grief, uncertainty, anger and fear we have deep reservoirs of hope and optimism.

Pandemics have always re-ordered society, changed the “normal” course that we’ve taken for granted.

We should take heart, the media/advertising complex is extremely powerful in the aggregate. We can change how people think, how they look at the world. We must use this power for a better way forward.

We must move back, yes back, to stakeholder capitalism. Where shareholder value is not the end all and be all. It’s time to put Milton Friedman out to pasture. It’s time for more of a shift to Michael Porter. It's time to go back to when business viewed it their mission to rebuild the world following WWII. This is our great battle.

Over the next several months we can either choose to go back to a normal that wasn’t working or we can forge a more sustainable path that has human flourishing and potential at its center.

The choice is yours.

Together, we can save us.
