We Can Learn A Lot From Children's Books

When you think back to when you were little, is there a particular book you read over and over again?? Did the story have a message that still resonates for you, or that influenced the direction you've taken as an adult???
West Valley College's opening speaker at All College Day read from a book called "What Do You Do With A Chance?" by Kobi Yamada and Mae Besom.? It was the perfect way to frame change as possibility and to kick off the event in a whimsical and inspirational way.
he idea of children's books influencing our lives made me remember my favorite book from when I was six-years-old.? At that time I was strangely obsessed with my future career path.? A book my grandmother gave me called "What Girls Can Be" planted the seed that I could be an artist when I grew up, and that's been what I've done in one way or another ever since.
What about you?
What children's book influenced you the most?? How might that message serve you today?? I'd love to hear about it if you'd like to share!
