Savoury flavours and vegetables are the latest cocktail trend of 2024. Ingredients including blue cheese, black pepper and bacon bits and culinary techniques like fat washing are increasingly being deployed by creative mixologists.

The hottest new drink trend – spicy drinks
Spicy beverages are the hottest drinks trend.
Now, spicy drinks aren’t exactly new – the classic Bloody Mary is the OG spicy cocktail and the pumpkin spice latte is Starbucks most popular seasonal serve. But it’s the way that spices are being used to elevate, enhance or completely rip up the rulebook on drinks that’s making this one of the year’s biggest trends.
From Coca Cola’s simple spiced raspberry soda and Smirnoff’s Spicy Tamarind vodka to mixologists carefully distilling the fieriest chillies or using habanero tequila, the trend has taken off across all formats and channels.

We’ve been exploring the classic flavours and colours synonymous with Spring time and perfect for drinks. We’ve also found unusual sour or global flavours that will suit Spring cocktails or soft drinks.
There are the obvious fruit flavours to work with, like sweet berries and soft melon, as well as sour options like lemon or rhubarb. Then there are the global Spring blooms, like Philippino ube for colourful cocktails, or bitter orange blossom to elevate cordials or syrups.
