We Beat Google Update... Here is How We Did It!

A few days ago I posted an update about my website that was hit by Google. You can read about it here.

This post is a continuation of that and it has some good news.

Remember, I laid out a plan that would help me get back my site on SERPs? I followed that plan and here are the results!

The site is now doing pretty well (Fingers crossed! Let's not jinx it this time)

Technically speaking, there were some obvious things that we did and that have worked out so far.

Since I highlighted all that in my previous post, I am only going to post a summary here.

  1. Redid all major articles so that they can rank well
  2. Internal linked my strong blogs to pass link juices
  3. Removed some ads that were obviously increasing CLS score and leading to a bad user experience
  4. Added FAQs that answered intent queries instead of long-form fluff-focused articles

As you can see the BONER is clearly evident from the GSC graph. I am getting similar results on Analytics as well.

The best part is that earnings have also increased in the last one week.

What I am Going to Keep My Site Stable and Growing?

  • Create relevant long-form content. I stopped doing it last year since keywords were under 25 difficulty
  • Keep a ratio of 80:20. Where 80% will be informational content while 20% will be commercial content
  • Make relevant high quality links to the site. I have already hired a team to do that.
  • Keep a balance of 10:90 page length. Where 10% will be advertising content and 90% will be informational content with proper navigation and site spacing.

I have already created a list of 60 content pieces that I will post in next two month on the site to bring it back to its original glory.

This post just shows that Google updates can be reverted if you follow the right strategies. This is not the first time one of my sites were hit. And, certainly this is not the last. But until and unless I am improving it for UX, it is going to be fine.
