Following last Fridays excellent first BBBC (Big Business Breakfast Club), I just wanted to summarise the event, highlighting some of its, eh, highlights. Over 115 guests registered, and we had just she of 90 in attendance (I so wanted to see '100' on that screen).
We ran some polls throughout the meeting, and I wanted to focus on one subject in particular which gave some quite interesting results.
We asked the attendees, if they were OK, or not OK - OK with business, within themselves, their relationships, life in general.
The first poll was run, 'named' - I could see who had selected what. - 93% - I'm OK
Not believing these results, I ran the poll again, this time anonymous - Having no clue who voted what - here's the result. - A third of the room - Not OK
On top of that, when asked if lockdown 3.0 had effected business as much as lockdown 1.0 - the result was a staggering 75% of us are suffering. I know I am, print is on its arse right now.
The OK poll came about when I was chatting to a friend about logging into a zoom with 'the boys' - he just didn't want to - "I don't want to say 'I'm OK, cause I'm not OK" - Like us, he runs a small business and is struggling to survive. So I wanted to see what the consensus was among our BBBC guests.
I think the message is clear, we're pretty much all, a little bit broken because of this shituation. So with this in mind, I had a word with one of our regular BBBC attendees, Mia Cherry from Working Together Training - Mia knows only too well the whole, I'm OK, not OK situation, and has developed an online course to help spot these situations and deal appropriately.
Mia says "So nice to see caring people in this world! I don't know when but we will get through this, stronger and more resilient! I think the poll you did last Friday will be valuable to many - being honest with others but mainly with themselves that they are not OK."
Mia has developed an online course 'Supporting someone in a difficult situation' it's list price is £257 - but she has agreed to offer this to BBBC'ers for just £80 (using coupon code BBBC21) - Find more info here, or approach Mia yourself for a chat - you'll find her on Linkedin.
I have included the other poll results at the end of this email.
Amy Lishman from Brighton Chamber came along to tell us about their 'Base Camp' event, at the end of April - so far over 200 Brighton businesses have registered to attend. Well done Amy - read more here.
Jenny Herrera the CEO of Good Business Charter, popped down from York to see us and tell us about GBC - (a simplified version of Corp B - my interpretation) - Its a great scheme to help separate the cowboys from us real firms - it's simple to apply, takes about 3 minutes - please do it now, its free and you get a cool logo for your website - click here
Alex Ryan our regular Marketing guru (Marketing 101) ran a session we are now calling 'BBBC Marketing - BIG steps for small business' - To assist Alex in his quest to educate, he'd really love you to complete this quick survey - take it now - he'll use these results to mould the next few months education slot. Alex has a rather impressive resume - worth a 121.
Nasser delivered his Covid finance update and Heather Barrie ran the breakout rooms with authority.
Janella told us about the forthcoming Charity cooking demo with Steven Edwards of Etch - details here - pulling together a handful of sponsors, most of whom are regular BBBC'ers.
If you missed it, we have setup a JustGiving page to support Rockinghorse - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/networking - if you enjoyed the BBBC please make a small donation each month - beats paying to attend a meeting, doesn't it.
We'll be back next month, 19th March - book your ticket here to secure your space - Book Now
Thanks for reading, sorry to go on, but I think some of you will find this kind of apre-event rundown useful, I hope.
See you next month.
And if you fancy a 121 to talk about your marketing intime for the economy reopening, lets have a chat - www.calendly.com/ofmg
Cheers
Jim

Oh and keep it quiet, but we have provisionally booked a real life venue to host either the June and/or July return to face 2 face, with a capacity of 100 seats - how do you feel about that? Me - Apprehensive.
The rest of the polls.

4 年Great that you were able to highlight the issue in a clear way that hopefully means people know they're not alone at least.

4 年A networking event wouldn't necessarily be the place for people to lay all bare but it's sad to see that so many people are struggling and feel the need to hide it.
