How was your Month of November?

We have had a jam-packed month of HR Networking, Pre-Christmas Parties and Winter-Wellbeing. At the end, it was an exhausting month, which led to a few of our team members unfortunately off sick ?

We attended the HR World and made some valuable connections with Jordan Barry-Bayliss and Caroline Foster . These panellists explored the challenges facing HR Professionals in the contemporary business landscape and some of the ways HR Leaders can further the impact they have in the workplace.


The Key Takeaways were:

  • HR professionals need to adapt HR practices to cater to the changing demographics and diversity of the evolving workforce by recognising the needs and perspectives that these groups bring to the table.
  • HR Professionals can play a pivotal role in driving positive disruption within their organisations by reimagining traditional hierarchies, embracing remote working models, and leveraging technology to create more efficient and collaborative working environments.
  • HR professionals need to be “Change Agents” as quoted by David Ulrich in his Typology of HR. This means driving change through innovation and transformation within organisations.
  • Labour shortages were recognised as a theme facing organisations, as was the role of technology, automation, and strategic workforce planning in mitigating the issue.
  • Artificial Intelligence has been recognised as a key tool leveraged to optimise recruitment and resourcing processes, identify talent gaps, and foster a more resilient and adaptable workforce.
  • We also bumped into the lovely Jo Major and shared some insights on Diversity Recruitment and the benefits organisations can expect when adopting these open-minded approaches. We would love to have Jo Major (She/her) as a guest speaker on one of our monthly webinars!
  • I also managed to get a new headshot of myself from The Headshot Guy which is the UK’s leading provider of professional headshots for business leaders, entrepreneurs and corporate teams. Our last webinar for this year was on Winter Wellbeing, and our panellists, Dr Jo Burrell , Rachel Austen , and Giedre Skatikaite, made this webinar a success.

The Key Highlights were:

  • The webinar delved into the unique challenges faced by HR professionals, shedding light on their impact on mental health and overall wellbeing.
  • Dr. Jo Burrell shared insights from the HR Mental Wellbeing Survey 2023, offering profound insights into the struggles experienced by HR professionals.
  • A key focus was placed on evidence-based wellbeing support, with the aim of encouraging targeted assistance for HR professionals on a broader scale.
  • Rachel Austen, a chartered occupational psychologist, provided expertise on burnout prevention, highlighting the five stages and sharing signs to be aware of.
  • AURA, a scientific tool designed by Rachel Austen, was introduced to recognize and address stress warning signs early, with a focus on fostering resilience.
  • The webinar explored proactive measures that organisations can take to manage stress and promote healthy performance among their teams.
  • The free mindfulness/mediation session from Giedre made everyone feel so relaxed and ready to face all challenges ahead… including the Christmas Rush!
  • Winter wellbeing strategies were discussed, covering areas such as stress management, mindfulness, healthy choices, and building strong social connections.
  • The event concluded by encouraging participants to embrace the season of self-care and make this winter their best one yet.

The hard-working team at We-are-HR enjoyed a Pre-Christmas dinner at the Rail House in Victoria, where we spent the evening enjoying our Christmas Meal and collaborating on ideas on how to improve our services to our customers, being true to our corporate values of: Driven, Passionate, Friendly and Caring.



On the solutions side of the business, we have been busy working on a Well-being survey for an SME who has recognised that when wellbeing falters, so does engagement, motivation, and productivity.

This is why we have created a well-being survey that does an in-depth analysis of the key challenges that are present in the workplace as a crucial first step to putting in place the right interventions that will support lasting wellbeing.

Our detailed Well-being survey will get to the root of challenges and concerns, uncover the key sources of staff stress in the organisation, and identify clear steps to overcome them.
