The We-are-HR November Newsletter
Dear Readers
How was your Month of November?
At We-are-HR, we have had a busy November enrolling new learners’ into our CIPD and NOCN Progammes as well as onboarding new employees!
Please welcome Muaaz Abid to our team as our Business Development Consultant. Muaaz?did his Master's in Human Resources & Organisations from? The London School of Economics and Political Science. He has a?CIPD?Level 7 Qualification and comes with vast experience in this field.
We also had Shriya Shripannavar on our team as our Sales and Marketing Executive. Shriya is pursuing her Master's in Advertising & Marketing Communications from Nottingham Trent University and has experience in Sales as well as Social Media & Event Marketing.
We hosted a very successful Employment Law Webinar in conjunction with Russell Cooke Solicitors where Jeremy Coy ensured that we were all kept up to date with new employment laws. We had an amazing 93 people attend this event virtually!
The key point raised:
Holiday Entitlements
Week’s pay for a week’s leave – s221 – 224 ERA 1996
Normal working hours: basic salary only
No normal working hours: Average remuneration earned in previous 52 weeks, or number of complete works if employed less than 52 weeks
Weeks without pay are ignored
Earlier weeks included up to 104 weeks
Includes overtime and commission
Recent legislation included in the Queen’s Speech
Modern Slavery Bill
Under the bill additional detail would be required in modern slavery statements and they would need to additionally be published on a government registry.
Introduction of fines for non-compliance.
Brexit Freedoms Bill
The government can now change laws inherited by the EU without a vote in parliament.
Many UK Employment laws were produced in tandem with EU laws so big shifts are not expected
Data Reform Bill
This seeks to reduce the burden on businesses set on them by data legislation, namely the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. It will change the ‘tick box’ exercises businesses currently employ to comply with legislation to outcome-focused regimes.
There are concerns that moving away from the GDPR would mean that the UK may lose the benefit of the EU’s “adequacy decision” which was adopted in 2021.
