How was your Month of December?

At We-are-HR we have had a festive December!

We began the month with our focus on Well-being, we felt that the month of December is naturally hectic, so we wanted to give HR professionals the tools to manage stress through our Well-being event which focussed on ‘How to Mediate’ with our guest speaker Giedre Skatikaite from Calm Moon Therapies and ‘Stress Management Strategies’ with our guest speaker Tracey Fox from CEDER.

The event was very relaxing and calming with free-flowing Mince Pies and Mulled Wine we all got into the Christmas Spirit and felt that the Well-being strategies were already working!

The Key Takeaway was the tip to reflect on a recent negative reaction to a stressful situation. Then to calmly consider the following:

  • What are your feelings?
  • What have you learnt from reflecting?
  • What are your needs in a similar situation?
  • How can you calmly request them?

Our Team attended the Pearsons HR Connections Event on Future Proofing Business, alongside the delicious food our key takeaways were:

  • Companies need to invest in ‘Strategic Workforce Planning’ to cater to global innovation and digitalization
  • Communication skills are the most in-demand power skill globally; followed by customer service and leadership skills – according to Pearson Skills Outlook 2022
  • Based on 2026’s requirement, there is a big gap between workforce capabilities and future requirements
  • In terms of technology impact globally, proof of inequality discovered between men and women
  • Strategy development is encouraged based on the 6 B’s model – Bot, Build, Borrow, Buy, Bounce, and Bind

The Christmas festivities continued with our We-are-HR Christmas Dinner at Balan’s in Kensington!

It’s always lovely and so important to be connecting as part of a team something that is part of our values of: Passion, Friendly, Driven, and Caring.

As a company we are supporting each other in sharing information and up-skilling each other, the embedding of these values is a very simple process as everyone believes in them and wants the best for the business, this is something quite unique!

On the solutions side of the business, we have been bidding for some interesting Corporate Training and we have our usual yearly Performance Reviews for our regular clients that we support. However, we have been asked by many about the cost of living crisis and how to navigate this as an SME. We have some ideas around this topic and we are keen to share these with our readers. Lastly, as we all start getting back into the flow of working, we are busy planning our next event which will be based on ‘Motivation Strategies’. Our host Anna Percy Davis is an Executive Careers Coach and Trainer.

Anna has a background in Financial Services and has over 15 years as a Coach and Trainer, she is passionate about workplace Wellness, Diversity & Inclusion, and helping businesses create an environment where employees can be happy, confident, and productive.

Our event will be held virtually, and we have warmheartedly linked our event to a special cause to support the St Mary’s Hospital Children’s Services bone marrow transplant ward. We have a close friend of the We-are-HR community whose son is receiving support for a rare form of anemia.

We have kindly offered to support the appeal and to match every purchased ticket with a donation from We-are-HR.
