We are also others for someone else

So what did you want to become in your life? An Engineer, Scientist and or a successful businessman ? And assuming your role model is among these. Or is your role model an artist? People are ready to pay huge amounts to purchase modern art. Music without lyrics is becoming famous and popular unlike in the past where lyrics was very essential for its success. The budget for movies has rose tremendously in recent years and when it was started, people felt that it is worthless and jobless people do cinema but today you find courses to become a part of cinema industry.
Having covered a painter, a musician and a movie director there are several other professions where you will find a revolutionised change in the process. For example Richard Branson is a billionaire from Virgin Atlantic airline and he is the one who also made a part of his fortune by selling music record albums. In today’s age of internet millions of people download songs illegally and that very rarely people will go to buy music albums. Therefore if you wanted to become rich like Richard Branson, selling music records wouldn’t help you today.
Therefore, the answer to this question is that you can’t become someone even if you wish to. You will face different sets of challenges in your life. It is therefore good to have role models and coping their attitudes but not them completely. There is never anything wrong with what you feel inside of you. The fact that you are feeling this wish to be someone else, this envy, this jealousy inside yourself cannot be changed. After all, you did not wake up one morning deciding that from now on you’d want to feel this way, did you?
You’re going to feel this way one way or another, so learn to accept it. With that being out of the way the question is: Why do you want to be someone else? What do you hate so much about yourself that you wish to change? The truth is, we all change all the time. Even biologically speaking not a single cell in your entire body is the same as it was 7 years ago. From a molecular standpoint, you are a completely new person that has never been on this planet. But with time come a lot of mental shifts as well. Our personality changes with the experiences we make.
Meaning you are going to become someone else regardless of what you do! You are going to change one way or another. So why is there anything wrong with wanting to be someone else now? It’s not about never wanting to change, but rather about directing this change. You are going to have to decide how you want to change. Who you become is up to you. You can complain all you want, be envious and jealous and always hope and dream that you will just magically turn into the person of your dreams but that won’t happen.
And if you dislike something about yourself accept it. Accept it and then find a way to change it! You can wish to be someone else forever too, but that will not change the reality that you are who you are right now. What will change this reality is making an effort to direct the change towards that end. Find out who you wish to be, what aspects make that person them, and figure out how you can adopt their traits to be closer to who they are!
Every little change you make will take you one step closer to being your ideal self and being the person you want to be, and one step further away from the regret you may feel now. It is completely okay to dislike who you are, as long as you do something about it in the end. But it is not okay to hate yourself and then never lift a finger to change it! Everyone wants to be someone, to have their name up in lights. Somehow they feel that they must be extraordinary.
And in the world of extraordinary people sometimes it is extraordinary just to be ordinary. In their search for that something which makes them extraordinary people are prepared to sacrifice their peace, harmony, and happiness. A few people do attain extra ordinariness and may be famous for a short time. But think about the price which has to be paid. In the East people understand that they are already extraordinary. It is enough to be alive, to feel one with existence.
Therefore, this desire to be extraordinary means that people must always stay one step ahead of everybody else. If the world is full of people trying to be better than everybody else then it cannot lead to anything more than a mad rush. The mad rush for information, technology, knowledge, trivia, power, and so on. Our relations with other people most suffer because it is a race and in a race second place is not good enough.
Now when we talk about ourselves and others we should first decide what do we want our relationship with others to be like? If we want to be friendly and cooperative then we cannot be competitive and aggressive. It is a matter of firstly deciding what kind of relationship we want with those around us and we need to step out of the competition and the race. We need to decide first on the relationship and then how to go about it.
But we tend to work the other way around. We are always competing and running and do not have the time to fit other people into our lives in any other way except on our own terms. In turn other people are trying to fit us into their lives on their terms. Ask yourself what is wrong with being ordinary? It is all part of the Western way of thinking; 'don't just be ordinary, compete, be the best'. Eastern people are quite happy to be ordinary because being ordinary is extraordinary in itself. Rather than stretching and reaching towards the impossible the Eastern mind accepts what it is and sees the beauty through understanding.
Whereas the typical eastern mind says you are unique. There is no one like you anywhere else in the whole world. No one has ever been born or will be born who is quite the same as you. Imagine, you are truly unique and have the chance to play your part on the stage of life as yourself. You don't have to pretend to be someone else, or do anything which is forced or unnatural. There is no need to wait for things to happen for you because they are already happening. And there is nothing which can make you better than you already are. Cheers!
