Are We All Still On the Same Page?

As I have looked over many of the posts over many years on LinkedIn, I have sensed that we have drifted away from the original focus that LinkedIn had when it began.
At first, LinkedIn was focused on business advancements, innovative ideas, and people with a common bond and desire to improve on what they do within their business organizations. Now, I see a drift away from that and more to experiential, social issues with little application to what we do within business organizations.
Now, I know that people will say that the forums meet the very specific needs of business organizations and to a degree they do but I have experienced the greater desire that forums have for protecting their turf and maintaining the status quo within their forum. My question is: "Are your forums growing and I don't mean in terms of numbers?" Does your forum welcome new ideas that may cause disruption, innovatively speaking, to the status quo or have you settled into your comfort zones and cease to grow? It is interesting that many forums have very talented, tested, and dependable thought leaders but then my question is to challenge you by asking: "In your non-partisan opinion, do you think that your "go to thought leaders" are growing which in turn would benefit your forum and all who attend? Has your forum been re-energized by new thought leaders or have you turned such an idea away by saying this rocks the boat too much.

I am interested in what you think about these question and more importantly, why.
Perhaps, my perceptions are all wrong and it is I who is experiencing a malaise and not LinkedIn and its forums. Perhaps, another question would be if you think that there has been a drifting away from original intent of LinkedIn, then what do you think would re-energize us and our forums to really shine the light on emerging talent, ideas, innovation and evolving techniques that break from the status quo and take on a pioneering spirit? Over to you....
