What changes in our lives that we then give in the the excuses and fears?

What allowed us at an early age to not make excuses when learning to ride a bike and keep trying?

What if we gave up after falling once?

Why do we accept that for ourselves later in our lives? Or not even try at all??

We all end up with "reasons": The economy is too bad. The economy is too good. I know someone else that tried and failed so I won't try. Someone else told me I couldn't do it. I don't know how to do it. The timing isn't right. What will others say if I fail? What will others say if I succeed? We all have moments in our lives that give us pause and often we come up with "reasons", which are really our fears. Consider the fear of not trying at all and looking back on "what could have been".

Here's a great quote to sum up way better of what I'm trying to convey:

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

Bottom line: Surround yourself with those that will help pick you up, that will encourage you, that will help you take that next step, that will help you achieve.
