We all are Racists.

#BlackLivesMatter is a stand humanity needs to take if we want to call ourselves a civilization. But why only black lives? #AllLivesMatter. Racism and discrimination doesn’t only come in black and white. It is far more deep rooted than you think.

• Do you not come across matrimonial ads in your daily newspaper in which educated, sophisticated families are brazenly asking for a ‘fair skinned’ girl?
• Didn’t you vote for the local political leader, who in his last campaign declared, “speak our language or go back where you came from”?
• Do you remember your acquaintances whom you nicknamed Motu, Kallu, Takla, Dheela, Shorty or Chinki?
• Do you ever think about the reason before ticking checkboxes against General, SC, ST or OBC in the application forms of ‘competitive’ and ‘merit’ based tests?
• Didn’t you gang up with your housing society members when they stopped a tenant from moving in just because he/she is a non-vegetarian or not from your ‘community’?
• Didn’t you reprimand your beloved son/daughter when he/she chose his life partner outside your ‘caste’?
• Don’t you hide a satisfaction deep in your heart when a group belonging to your religion thrashes another group from some other religion?

So, next time, when you think about bringing in a change, CHANGE YOURSELF FIRST. Charity begins at home.
