WE ARE ALL A MIXTURE!
.
"We Are All A Mixture!
"Jesus was at a feast when"he said to his host, 'When you give a lunch or a dinner do not invite your friends and your siblings or your relatives or your rich neighbors, in case they invite you back and repay you. No; when you have a party, invite the poor the crippled, the lame, the blind; then you will be blessed, for they have no means to repay you and so you will be repaid when the upright rise again. (Luke 14:12-14.
We are all two halves, good, and bad.? The first photo above, Carlo Acutes, a young sixteen year old saint, who died on October 12, is described as a young man who received the Eucharist every day, visited the poor, prayed daily, and lived an exemplary life, and died at sixteen from a form of cancer; the second photo is Matthew Shepherd, the young gay man from Wyoming, who was murdered some twenty-five years ago, on October 12, the same day as Carlo, murdered because he was gay, and as some say selling drugs, and using. Mathew had nothing to do with the church.? Carlo, the Roman Church named a saint, the other is praised and hated by society, and one would call a "secular saint". One called "good" by many, the other bad, but neither are, simply a mixture of good and bad.
The truth is neither one is really good nor bad, simply human beings who in their early lives in one way or another are caught up in the times and places in which they live. The truth is also they are both good and bad, and were caught at the extremes at the times of their death. Simply a mixture.
They are the two halves of every human being. Each one of us are a a mixture of the good and bad.
I have been in the ministry since being very young, and in these years have been labeled both good and bad, told I was not fit for ministry etc, by various individuals and groups. I received four death threats this week. The truth is I am a mixture of both--the good, the bad, as are the people who sent me the death threats.
This is LGBTQ History Month. LGBTQ'S have a history going back to the beginning of human time, and yet is always seeking to be erased from our class books, and shelved aside. Human history is a mixture of the good and bad--where are we at this time?
I invite each one of you to open the history of LGBTQ people in our class rooms, in our churches, let the good of us shine, and acknowledge the needs of? our LGBTQ youth through supporting the Trevor Foundation!
Acknowledge LGBTQ History Month through supporting our youth through through the Trevor Foundation! Read the history of our LGBTQ community!
Rabindranath Tagore tells us , "We come nearest to the great when we are great in humility." Deo Gratias! Thanks be to God!

Let Love Ache
Father, give me the courage to keep on loving.
when others keep on hurting.
help me to live an achy love, a gritty,
persistent and emptying love;
a love that’s not afraid to flow toward the other
who has little left to offer in return.
And may I tread faithfully with heaven
through the unfinished work that surrounds me.

The Blessing The world is too dangerous and too beautiful for anything but love. May your eyes be so blessed you see God in everyone, your ears, so you hear the cry of the poor. May your hands be so blessed, that everything you touch is a sacrament. Your lips, so you speak nothing but the truth with love. May your feet be so blessed you run to those who need you. And may your heart be so opened, so set on fire, that your love, your love, changes everything. --A Blessing, Black Rock Prayer Book
