We All Make Mistakes, Don’t We?

People often describe failure as a teachable moment, a necessary stumble on our way to improvement. But let’s be honest—learning from our mistakes isn’t always easy, is it? Especially when those failures feel overwhelming and demoralizing.

It’s painful. We all want to think of ourselves as capable, and when failure strikes, it threatens that self-image. Research shows that when people feel demoralized and incompetent, their brains stop processing new information. This means that if the hit to your self-esteem is big enough, it can seriously undermine your ability to learn and improve.

So, what can we do to turn our failures into stepping stones for growth?

Let’s take a cue from some of the best.

Learning from the Best

Jack Ma failed multiple times—three times for university, ten times for Harvard, and over thirty job applications rejected. Despite these setbacks, he didn’t see himself as smart, but he was different. He believed in a better future and worked hard to reach it. What separates Warren Buffet, Larry Page, and Mark Zuckerberg from the rest? Their relentless optimism about the future. They don’t complain; they solve problems. Optimism equals opportunity.

The best asset you have is your youth—you have time to make mistakes. And remember, it’s never too late to start. Don’t complain—let others do that. Focus on solving problems. Success comes from finding solutions to others’ challenges.

My Journey of Helping Others

Helping others has always been my guiding principle. While I might not know exactly what the future holds, I know one thing for sure—I want to help people. This has shaped every step of my career.

  • Age 19: Became the President of an NGO to empower women through skill-building.
  • Age 24: Launched my first startup, Digital Media Magazine, to be the voice of my people.
  • Age 25: Opened my first agency to help SMBs navigate the digital era.
  • Age 27: Founded my second startup, Wired Hub, to help people stay connected with their families by bringing mentors & investors to Tier 2 cities.
  • Age 28: Launched 3min.life , a project to help parents understand air pollution and protect their children.
  • Age 29: Worked on accounts like Progcap & Flipkart to help merchants succeed in the digital revolution.
  • Age 30: Completed my Executive MBA to equip myself with the skills to help others better as the new revolution kicks in.

Everything I do in my life is aligned with helping people and businesses thrive. That’s what brings me the most success in my heart. Don’t worry about the money—money follows people with dreams :)

Embrace Your Mistakes

I hope this can be useful to anyone trying to overcome a mistake, whether it be a lost opportunity, a bad interview, or anything else you're beating yourself up for. Mistakes are a test of character. How we talk to ourselves during these times defines our growth :)
