We All Heard the News - So What Now?
Well, it seems to be happening, folks. If TikTok does not sell to a U.S.-Based company, it will be banned nationwide.
If you logged onto TikTok yesterday, you may have scrolled past a video from TikTok CEO Shou Xi Chew, stating that this bill was an unconstitutional act. Chew has been very vocal since the beginning of this ban about how creators can use their voices to fight back against it.
Unfortunately, it looks like that didn't do much good.
So, what's next for the popular app?
Well, as we know, TikTok is ready to fight a legal battle to maintain Chinese ownership. If that doesn't work out, there is always the option of selling.
If the worst happens, TikTok will be banned. As of now, they have nine months (with a possible extension for three more months) to decide whether to sell the app, so there's no need to start panicking now.
There is still plenty of time to start moving your community elsewhere, just in case. And hey, if TikTok doesn't get banned, there's no harm in having an email list or a strong Instagram following.
For now, we wait.
