Today on “What I Would Do If I Was Mayor,” we’re talking about accurately reporting square footage. Real estate is the most important asset in New York City, but it’s currently in a crisis. Bogus laws allow condos and co-ops alike to willingly misstate square footage by up to 20% and 30%; in other states, that’s illegal. Why is this practice allowed to continue?
