We all Die Broke

We all Die Broke

Did you hear the one about the man who loved gold?

He collected all types of gold in coins, jewelry, ornaments, furniture, bars, and especially the 25-pound large gold bar. By the end of his life, he had given away much of his wealth.

And his gold collection?

Well, he melted that down into larger gold bars so that, in his words, “He’d be prepared to pay his way into heaven.” When he arrived at the pearly gates, Peter asked, “What’s with all the pavement bricks?” Peter was amused because in case you didn’t know, according to Revelation 21:21, “the great street of the city [Heaven] was of pure gold.”

As we begin to walk through my book,?How to Createyourself via daily snippets to kick your day with some ideas on how you may continue your journey to createyourself, today is the Preface.

One of my favorite authors in the mid 90's was Stephen M. Pollan who, together with Mark Levine, published a book titled Die Broke.

I absolutely believe in dying broke. While I am not a liberal advocating that the government should tax all my wealth and take it to benefit “the society” when I die, I do plan on giving away as much as I can while I am living to enjoy “The Giving.” After I die, the remainder will go to the charitable causes that I believe in supporting, not whatever the government thinks is best for my money.

My wife and I currently have a foundation we created to serve and support children with special needs. After we tithe to our church and missions, much of our net proceeds go to supporting ApparoAcademy.org. The trick is draining the bank at the same time you die, not before!

Pollen's book is also where I got the name for my website and ultimately the book where he suggests that we “create our own Yourself, Inc.” as a vehicle through which we can start or buy businesses, make investments, conduct joint ventures, etc.

I not only grabbed the website domain for Createyourself.com, but I also incorporated it as an S - LLC to roll through all my non-employee work as Pollen recommends... and I do as well. Everyone and I mean Everyone, should spend $300 to set up a personal LLC in your state and then file it as an S-Corp. Not only do you have a vehicle for your entrepreneurial ventures, but you have also protected your family assets from your adventurous risks.

Now you know from where Createyourself came.
