Are we adjusting our leadership styles today for the high potential leaders of tomorrow?
“Today’s young professionals are highly inclusive and demand more collaborative opportunities from leadership than previous generations, which means mentorship is more important than ever—especially in today’s highly competitive market,” Jana Turner, a principal at RETS Associates, tells GlobeSt.com. This caught my eye today and wanted to share it. i have not done it enoegh. I think that we made some adjustments for Gen X then Gen Y groups and now need to do more with Millennials today. It takes time, but if we think about it, we have so much to offer to turn such efforts on HIPO candidates into a longer term relationships. A good friend named Tom Sorely, now CEO of Rosendin Electric once told me he was worried about the fickle nature of new hires today who may leave and he had concerns about the investment in training. He then went on to say what if he doesn't invest and they stay? Whether it is our time as leaders or investment in developing programs for key hires and especially high potentials, it is a core essential investment today. Have you mentored someone today? 5 年It's all about communication and letting young professionals have that dedicate sense of purpose in the team and cultural concept today.? As a Mentor you provide the tools, systems , and support required for them to get there, always be there to support and lend guidance when needed.? Everyone wants to be successful and if they come back each day with that purpose/thought from your delivery, you set the table for them to provide for themselves and their families, which a key cultural component.? Remember "your value does not decrease nor it it based on someone's inability to see your worth."

5 年Hey Todd I really appreciate your post. If you'd like to become more involved mentoring our ULI YLG members I think you would be awesome. Let me know if you'd like to learn more.

5 年Thanks for sharing Todd. ?This is something businesses need to think about more. ?Other than salary and location, the number one thing millennial candidates tell me is they crave to be part of a collaborative team where they feel they are doing something meaningful.?
