Rantoul, Ill., village officials are weighing whether it would be prudent to get out of the campground business, according to?The News-Gazette .

Village President Chuck Smith said the 95-site?Prairie Pines Campground ?— given to the village by the Air Force after Chanute Air Force Base closed — is profitable. It might be preferable, however, for the facility to be privately owned and operated, he said.

Parks and Recreation Director Luke Humphrey said the village is trying to gain as much information on the campground as it can, knowing it has “significant infrastructure needs.”
