Construction Underway for 2nd ‘RV Self Park’ in Ga.

Jim Turntine, his son-in-law, Christopher Pyle, and Cody Montee, their franchise business consultant, had an uncanny sense of timing.

They opened their first campground, RV Self-Park in Sullivan, Mo., about 70 miles southwest of St. Louis, in January 2020 with touchless check-in, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was sweeping across the country.?And even though they developed RV Self Park solely as a “no frills” campground, initially with 24, 75-foot-long pull-through sites, Turntine and Pyle have been so busy they are now developing a second RV Self Park location with touchless check-in in Kingsland, Ga., which is expected to open in March.

With an estimated one million people descending on the little desert town of Quartzsite, Ariz. – its regular population is about 3,500 – this town and, in particular, this RV event are indeed a Mecca for those escaping the colder climates up north.

So, what brings people to this event and this town? The warm weather in January is one answer, but opportunity and learning are others.
