WBC Chair Spotlight - Exiting 2024 and Incoming 2025

WBC Chair Spotlight - Exiting 2024 and Incoming 2025

We had such a fabulous year at the WBC.?We cannot end the year without thanking our amazing WBC Chair,?Meredith Chimento, Executive Director of the Early Care & Learning Council,?and welcoming our incoming Chair, Renee Abdou-Malta, Senior Director, Stategic Accounts at AptiHealth.

We sat down with Meredith and Renee to ask them why they became a part of the WBC.

Meredith: Honestly, I joined the WBC to connect with Capital Regional businesses. Prior to my current position, I was in the market for a new job. I did not find the job, but I found an incredible network of powerful women.

Renee: I joined the WBC decades ago in the early stages of my career. I wanted to be part of an organization that supported and empowered women in business.

What is your favorite part of volunteering with the WBC?

Meredith: The WBC’s Adopted Non-Profit program! As a lifelong nonprofit professional, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know other nonprofits and learning more about the work they do.

Renee:? My favorite part of volunteering with the WBC is also supporting the non-profit organizations that are selected annually.?

What is one piece of advice that you would give to a colleague regarding the benefits of attending the programs hosted by the WBC?

Meredith: Fill out the surveys. We are always looking for new ideas, speakers, and feedback.

Renee: Attend WBC programs and network with as many women as possible. I have met some amazing women attending the WBC programs and have developed life-long friendships!?

What is one goal that you have in 2025?

Meredith: I need to slow down and reprioritize relationships. I have been absent this past year from professional friendships, as work and family priorities have overshadowed them.

Renee: My goal as the 2025 WBC Chair is to lead with heart and purpose and expand our reach to more women in our community.

Happy Holidays everyone - see you next year!

Thank you, Meredith, for your leadership, and congrats, Renee! ????
