Today is March 5th - National Employee Appreciation Day. A good opportunity to check in on our values and actions. How is your business actively looking at ways to support team members, support mental health, raise individuals up, reduce unconscious bias in the workplace, and treat others with kindness?
A simple act of kindness can go a long way.
During such a time of uncertainty + remote working, many managers may have limited options to show their gratitude. Here are some ideas that come at very little cost:
1. Say thank you.
2. Take time today to remind each of your staff how their unique skills are contributing to the business.
3. Schedule time for an open discussion with each of your staff on their aspirations. Listen to their dreams and ideas with an open mind. Share your experiences with a genuine intent to support.
4. Look for opportunities for your staff to dedicate a portion of their time to “passion projects”. This will provide a mutual benefit for their career growth and your business. Lookup Google’s famous 20% time. Despite what skeptics say, I think it has merit.
5. Treat employees with extra kindness, compassion, and empathy. "Treat others how you wish to be treated."

Affirmation cards are available for purchase on their site or at Indigo. (These are from the Femme set, I personally use these in my morning journalling).
