Thinking of writing, hoping to write, a self-help, inspirational or motivational book? Or a memoir you hope can help people transform their attitude to life? You may have a strong feeling and desire to do this.
But where does the material of your very inspiration/motivation for this come from? Perhaps one of these:
???? Personal experiences: have you have met/overcome some significant challenge? Perhaps there's material here you can share with others. Even if other humans haven't experienced the same thing, we all know what it is to struggle, suffer...and find ways to try to overcome and resolve our situation.
???? Existing expertise + credentials: are you a doctor, therapist or other "care" professional with plenty to say? Your very profession may suggest a 'helping' book to write and bring to the lives of others.
???? Your career or business: is there a story in how you've risen to where you are — in the ranks or as an entrepreneur? And you may see that especially in the last four years (of pandemic change and adaptation) that have affected us all. But your own biz story may be farther back...with lessons for today.
???? The news! Is there something that's timely, topical or trendy that aligns with what you're doing...or even suggests a book you could do? Books with ongoing 'news value' can do well in the promo/marketing process, and make prime material for media publicity.
???? Your own interests or hobbies: do they hold the possibility of a quirky, creative "instructional" book? There's a kind of 'business' in a relaxing book that might involve art to colour, or craft items to create. We all need/can appreciate something gentle, beautiful, inspirational...and hand-made!
???? A diary, journal or blog: do your entries, pages and posts suggest issues and solutions you could share with others? Some authors have indeed turned their blogs and personal-account pages into books. Or you might try a combo — a diary page to open each chapter of your new book.
???? Email. conversation, texts, gab sessions: in your day-to-day communication, do you see some recurring themes to develop? If you look back on what makes for stimulating convos or compulsive messaging, you may find something of passion that could be developed into a book, to touch and help others.
???? A compilation: have you written several articles (personal or with expert sources) that could be combined for a diverse book? Whether you're a longtime journalist or a frequent "Medium" contributor, you could have a wealth of themed or diverse stories that show the depth and breadth of humanity.

???? Or — are you inspired to take the truly storied approach, and reach out by doing a motivational novel (a fictional, even fun, approach to a life or biz issue)? This is a wonderful way to satisfy your urge to do both a 'helping' kind of book, and a story with plot, characters, development, climax and resolution.
???? And then there's the possibility of taking some very real stories from within your family history. Do the struggles, wartime experiences and achievements of your parents/grandparents/ ancestors, decades or centuries ago, have some timeless insight and accomplishment to intrigue and inspire people today??
???? Where it comes from, how it comes...It might be from simply settling down to write anything...and continuing on a path that can seem unproductive...until something breaks through! You may have to work to find inspiration, to be truly inspired.
Or it may visit you, weave its way into your consciousness, on a long walk, on cleaning your live/work space, in convo with a friend or stranger...or may come to you in that intriguing 'place' between sleep and wakefulness, when you are in a kind of dream world, but still able to think logically. Your mind may have enormous potential then!

Any of the above, or a combo, could help you begin, continue and triumphantly complete a book that can help and inspire others, and bring joy and satisfaction to you...the author.
