From the Track to My Wedding

Wayne Gardner’s story isn’t just a public legacy—it’s personal for me. For my wedding, I was given a cardboard cut-out of Wayne, signed by leading Queensland motorcycle champions, including the late Gregg Hansford. A photo of my husband, Jim and me with 'Wayne' at the wedding became a cherished memory we later shared with him. His response was received by overseas mail starting with "It was great to see me at your wedding." Jim even earned a mention in Gardner's autobiography as one of his heroes. Years later, as my husband's health declined, Wayne invited us to attend as a team guest when he was car racing in Sydney. A treasure dmemory for Jim.

Wayne has always been generous with his time to me when opportunity presented —a mark of true character and humility.
