Hi everyone!

Teja here, taking over for Faith. As everyone knows, I have some very stylish shoes to fill this week. In thinking about?an appropriate intro, I turned to ChatGPT and here’s what it came up with:

Kind of robotic, but we've?gotten some great mileage in the company by leveraging ChatGPT to help us write our internal training documents for our sales team. It’s also not bad at writing basic call scripts. I’m sure you’ve leveraged ChatGPT in interesting ways for your business—and I’d love to hear about it! (just reply).

My goal is definitely not to maintain the incredible standards and personality of the previous author. My goal is to basically bore you to death with what we’re learning in the process of scaling a company to $100m in revenue by getting as many developers hired on cool projects as humanly possible—because that’s all I think about.?

To start that off, here’s a fun, highly tactical, but massive quality-of-life thing that we do at Gun.io—and it’s probably known and obvious to those who’ve worked at Amazon before.?I personally have found that using the first 10-20 minutes of a meeting to sit through a presentation is an incredible waste of time. But also, sending documents and decks out in advance to people who are really busy is a recipe for folks to come very “lightly” prepared.?

We start every meeting off by spending a few minutes reviewing whatever document, deck, or metrics that are up for discussion for the first 5-10 minutes of the meeting, and then basically use up the rest of the meeting talking about our disagreements to arrive at a decision.?

Massive QoL improvement for us—and hope it can be the same for you.?

As always, we've got quite a few exceptional developers who've joined the community recently and are ready to help you build amazing products and scale your teams. Our entire engineering and developer relations teams, all the way to the top, comes from our network. We drink our own champagne, and we invite you to try some. If you're hiring, scroll down below and check out the profiles we've listed. If your stack isn't accounted for, reply to this email and we'll get you talking to some awesome developers inside of a week.

1. Stumbling on this?a(door)able game?while GitHub was down yesterday made the loss of productivity worth it.

2. If Tom Clancy had ever written a tech-heavy plotline, it might read something like? The Untold Story of the Boldest Supply Chain Hack Ever.

3. I’ll be using the?Shark Cam at Frying Pan Tower?in Cape Fear, North Carolina for all upcoming moments of zen, despite sharks, frying pans, and fear all making an appearance in this declaration.

If you are building a product for developers, but aren't asking them for feedback via an open source option, you're missing out on some reliable data. It can help to not only improve what you're building, but also garner some goodwill among a community of people who are invested in what you're doing. This week, Faith talks to the CMO at Harness, Scott Sanchez, about how Open Source and AI have helped to deliver a better CI/CD delivery system.?Audio and transcript here.?

Spam can mean quite a few things, only one of which is super tasty (spam musubi, if you're wondering), but when it comes to the dreaded emails and text messages, it all dates back to one guy flooding a message board with his marketing spiel. This Week in Tech History, Faith and Abbey discuss the sorted history of spam messaging.?Audio and transcript here.?

We have 742 folks ready to interview and get to work this week. Here are three folks we'll hire if you don't:?

???Ameen T, a tech lead and coding machine with FAANG experience under his belt.?

???Mildred F,?a commercially-minded Senior full-stack Engineer and Data Scientist.

???Patton J, a 3x co-founder and full-stack dev that loves building simple, scalable solutions.

Hit reply if you're in need of a great developer (or want to meet one of these fine folks) and I'll get it set up.
