Most everyone reading this newsletter has, at some point or another, engaged with the vast array of workers who fall under the “gig economy” umbrella. According to a recent survey a friend just shared with me, a?whopping 70% of Gen Z workers?say they either currently take on freelance work or plan to do so in the near future. Now, I’m not a mathematician, but for those of us who rely on the freedom and lifestyle freelance and gig work affords, that looks incredibly promising for our future.

Changes to the way we work, along with an economy still reeling from the effects of the pandemic, are fueling the future of what work looks like for the next generation, and that’s a really exciting thing to watch and be a part of. How this way of work shapes the future of business is something else I’ve been really keen to dive into.

If freelance and gig work becomes the standard, do we risk losing the institutional product knowledge that comes with more permanent in-house workers? Long-term, what are the implications on benefits, labor costs, and feelings of job security? Diving into these ideas now will prepare us for the future of work, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this shift.

Best,

Teja
