This Is The Way You See Yourself

This Is The Way You See Yourself

This Is Pretty Cool

I recently had a conversation with #1 bestselling author and CEO of Grow Live Academy, Ken Walls and during that conversation, he told me to point to myself. That seemed simple enough, so I accepted his invitation and I pointed at myself. And now, even if it sounds silly, I want you to point to yourself.

If you pointed to your chest, just like I did, Ken says there’s something to that.  I’ve been drawn to this mission of MORE LOVE for a long time now. So I was experiencing some synchronicity when Ken brought up this point about how we identify ourselves. That energy, that life force, it resides in our hearts, our chests, our centers. We feel so much, we experience so much through emotion and love, that this is where we see ourselves in the physical form. Being centered is actually what allows us to pivot! This balance is what creates space for us to accept the invitations life hands to us. And the more invitations we accept, the more resilience we build, the more centered we become.

Life Has A Sense of Humor

The irony of these patterns and behaviors we are talking about is this: you have to choose. You accept the invitation or you don’t: the choice is yours. You commit to the daily ritual or you don’t: the choice is yours. You face adversity or you turn your back: the choice is always yours. Our freedom of choice is our one true freedom. We choose what we think. We choose where we put our focus. I choose where I put my attention. Nobody can do that for me. The president can't do it for me. Other friends, family can't do it for me. I'm the only one. I have that responsibility, but I have the freedom to choose that. Yet plenty of our time is spent on non-choice, doing things we didn’t choose, so I want you to remember this: A lack of choice is also a choice. Just because you are going along to get along doesn’t mean you aren’t choosing, that is also a choice.

If that is the case (it is!) why not make more intentional choices? If you know you have to choose either way, why not go in the direction of the pivot you want?

But… How Will You Know?

Today, we operate in a “microwave society” -  we want things to be fast and often get disappointed when they’re not. We are so good at talking …. yet lack the patience to listen.  And so often, we make the wrong choice or miss the invitation altogether because we were so busy talking/doing/acting that we forgot to tune in and listen.

“As you already know, if you're the one doing all the talking, it's impossible to find the answers. You have to shut up and listen. Maybe God is trying to give you the answers and you're busy with your mind running, your mouth running, and everything else. We're busy trying to manipulate the situation and we're trying to figure out the solution. “I'm a chess champion. I know this stuff.” “I know how to solve problems. I can beat anybody in four moves…” How often it is that what we're looking for, the answers we're seeking, are within us all along and we miss the invitation to explore that.” - Ken Walls

A Quick Story Before You Go

There's a story in Ken’s book that resonates with this message. In the chapter called Look Inside, there's this old Hindu story about how the gods all got together one day and they were ticked off that they had given the humans this free gift forever. The gift that they had given them was the ability to know the answer to any question they could ever have instantly. They saw that the humans were abusing the gift and not using it so they decided that the best thing to do would be to take it away from the humans and hide it so they have to work to find it.

One god said, “Let's put it on the highest mountain on the planet.” They all thought, “They'll learn how to climb. They'll find it. That's too easy.” Another one says, “Let's bury it in the deepest part of the ocean.” “They'll learn how to swim. They'll find it too. It's too easy.” The wisest god of all of them said, “Why don't we hide it deep within the humans themselves? They'll never think to look there.”
